Historical Context
By about 1647 Simon Trott married a daughter of Stephen Batson. Her first name is unknown. Stephen Batson had a son John Batson and Mary Batson was evidently his daughter based on his will bequeathing one shilling to “My daughter Mary Brookehouse.” Mary Batson married first Jonas Clay by October 1652 and was estimated to be born no later than 1632. Their only known child, son Jonas, married in 1678, and so was born by 1653
